Entering this residency a few months after leaving art school, I explored "The Myth of Sisyphus" by Albert Camus and enjoyed playing the role of Sisyphus in various process works. Approaching the myth from a humorous perspective, I used performance as a key method of working which lead to a couple of video works, the main being "One must imagine Sisyphus happy" which you can view above. For this video, I had to create a fake and small boulder in order to emphasize the comedy of Sisyphus' tragic tale. During this residency, I also created a book of prompts, named "IF I WAS SISYPHUS" which details the many actions I would complete if I was Sisyphus. These tasks involve rolling the boulder up an escalator, taking the boulder to McDonalds and many more.
