During the Graded Unit area of my college course, I was heavily interested in my personal experiences with religion growing up. Raised Christian, I was exploring the ideas of the afterlife and my own struggle with beliefs and used this to fuel my creative investigation into what I may perceive to welcome us after this life. The idea of Heaven and Hell was a main driving factor in my practice at this time, it allowed me to explore this in a physical installation at Limefield Church in West Calder, West Lothian. In this installation, I included a neon sign that was later developed into a projection that was reflected against a family member's bible, circling back to my first point. I also explored illustration and the concept of an angel, something meant to be idyllic and harmless and considered a more heinous approach - taking away the friendly aspects of angels by removing their face can turn them into eerie beings.
